I Want To Elope: What Now?

The Blog

You’ve decided to elope! Congratulations!

You might be asking yourself, well, what now?

I’d start by throwing confetti or popping champagne, but hey, that’s just me. I’d then start the beginning phases of planning. It is no secret: elopements are easier to plan than a traditional wedding day. However, there is still some planning involved that allows you to have a more stress-free and laid back day. The nice part about this is that you get to decide how you want your day to go, and you can keep it as simple as you want or include as many details and activities as you want. So, to help with some of this planning, I have put together some simple next steps just for you!

#1: Start with a Budget

Figuring out what’s most important to you will help when it comes to a budget. Because you aren’t spending the same amount of money you’d typically spend on a traditional wedding day, you can splurge on some things that you’d like. The day is up to you, but sticking within a budget is equally as important.

Pro tip: You can have a budget and still be flexible! When you start planning, things might come up that you weren’t expecting, and you will get ideas along the way as you plan! But having a guideline will help the process go smoother.

#2: Begin Dreaming

The best way to start figuring things out is to brainstorm and dream up your elopement day. Start asking yourself questions that allow your vision to appear! These questions can be:

  • Where do you want to elope? Domestic or International?
  • What type of scenery would you like to have on your day? You can check out a recent blog post of mine for some ideas on Places To Elope
  • Are you inviting anybody? What do I want my guest list to look like?
  • What season do we want to elope? What time of year?
  • Do we plan on having activities be part of our day? Hiking? Canoeing? Swimming? Road trip?

Dreaming is the core component of eloping. You are creating the day of you and your partners’ dreams.

Don’t forget to dream big.

#3: Hire an Elopement Photographer With Planning Experience

As an experienced elopement photographer, most of my couples contact me when they 1) know they want to elope and 2) have some idea or general vision of what they are looking for but don’t know where to go from there.

I love this because I get the opportunity to work closely with you and your partner to help pull together your vision and turn your dreams into a reality! I also have a complete package which allows for you to have access to everything you’d need on your day to elopement.

Once you have an experienced photographer (experienced being the key word), you can start to dive into the details!

You dream it up and I will help you turn it into a reality! Want to know more about my elopement packages? Go here. If you haven’t booked a session yet but you’re ready to, get in touch here.
