3 Simple Yet Important Truths About Eloping

The Blog

I think as a society we get so focused on what everyone else is doing that we forget to stop and evaluate what we want to do.

Eloping is incredibly powerful in this way – it forces you to slow down and ask yourself some self-reflection questions about what you want and what you and your partner want together.

I have noticed that even when partners set out to elope, they look to others for inspiration or find ways to elope just as everyone else has. But I think it is important you remember that eloping is empowering – you can do literally ANYTHING and in ANY WAY you want.

This blog post will talk about 3 things when it comes to eloping in hopes that you will begin to or further see eloping for what it is.

1. Eloping Is Empowering

The very nature of eloping is that it is empowering. Empowering means giving someone the authority or power to do something which could allow them to feel stronger, more confident and in control of their life.

If you have considered eloping, it may be for that very reason – you want to take control back over your life, including your marriage, and feel confident enough to make choices that you feel are best for you.

It also is empowering for you and your partner together. It gives both of you the opportunity to make decisions together, as a family, about your current life and the trajectory of your life from that moment on.

I want to remind you that you do not have to do anything you don’t want to do during your elopement. That means ignoring unsolicited advice and choosing to do whatever makes the two of you happy. And who knows, maybe this empowerment will give you the confidence to apply boundaries in other areas of your life too!

2. Eloping Brings Clarity

Eloping allows for clarity for both you and your partner. It puts into perspective what is truly important and what truly matters. It seems only fitting that when your lives are coming together and you are beginning a new chapter, that you are able to determine what is most important to you as individuals but also what’s important to you as a couple going through life together.

Having clarity means aligning yourself with a posture of what you want – it is not selfishness, but choosing to put yourself first and giving others the space to adapt.

3. Eloping Is A Refreshing Change of Pace

Eloping allows you to slooooow down, take a deep breath and do something for you and your partner. It is stepping away from the busy and the fast-paced everything and focusing on something true important: one another.

It also allows for you to re-evaluate the way things have been going and if you want to bring any changes to your lifestyle or habits.

It can even mean having some fun with the person you love most, going on a crazy adventure, or doing something wildly different and amazing!

It is pursuing adventure, hand in hand, with the one you love.

And what could possibly be better than that?

I hope you enjoyed these three simple reminders about elopements. If you and your loved one are planning an elopement, or even considering one, get in touch! I’d love to help you make your dream day a reality.
